Robert Jaffe ( Madoff Associate) doesn't show up for meeting on Madoff with the Massachusetts Securities Division
January 13, 2009 10:04 an associate of Bernard L. Madoff, a man accused of operating a $50 billion Ponzi scheme, did not appear at a scheduled meeting with the Massachusetts Securities Division this morning.

A spokesman for the securities division said of Jaffe : "He's not coming. What happens next is to be determined."

Jaffe had been issued a subpoena to meet with the division, which is supervised by Massachusetts Secretary of State William F. Galvin, to presumably discuss his knowledge about Madoff, the financier accused of operating a Ponzi scheme.

Jaffe worked for a brokerage that steered clients to Madoff's firm.

Jaffe has said previously that he and his family are victims of Madoff and that they were unaware of the scheme.

Jaffe could not immediately be reached. Last night, his spokesman declined to comment on whether Jaffe would appear at today's meeting with officials from the Massachusetts Securities Division.
